The wind blows.
The force of wind
can be unsettling
at times.
Is it the noise,
the din,
of this roaring force
that draws your
attention –
as you listen
to the wind
as it picks up speed –
only to then slow down?
Is it the
unpredictable nature
of wind –
the erratic behavior
of bursts of energy –
as gusts of wind
rise up,
seemingly out of nowhere,
to rattle window screens,
shaking everything up
before diminishing
once again?
And then there are
sustaining winds,
emitting a low roar
that your ears begin
to filter out –
but that carry with it
biting air
that has you
pulling in your coat
for warmth as you
try to block out
the wind.
But does not wind
serve its purpose well –
does it not push forward
steams of air
that create
and move the atmosphere,
to bring needed rain,
or parts the clouds,
so the sun may warm
and melt the winter snow?
And does not wind’s force
shake out what is ready
to be discarded –
is it not a natural pruner,
as sticks and limbs
break off to allow
new growth to occur?
And when wind
has calmed –
is that not when
you remember
the peace and quiet
that follows
the noise,
the din,
the force of the wind?
Do you not need
to experience
the bluster
of any force,
to appreciate
its absence –
is this not the
calm before
or after the storm?
Brace yourself
when winds appear.
Gather together
to fend off the storm.
Be grateful
for the wind
that helps you
appreciate
the stillness,
the peace,
the calm.
And how to find peace
when the winds are blowing?
Go inside.
Be the eye
of the storm.
As you go to
your center –
may you find
the Love,
the Peace,
that is always within.
You Are the shelter
you wish to seek.
You Are Peace.
You Are Love.
There is calm.
