A spring thaw.
Is there not
a gradual warming
up to spring –
sometimes so slow
that you cannot
remember when
the balance tips
from winter to spring –
and cannot this
change happen
more than once?
Are there not times
when winter needs
to show its strength –
a last hurrah,
a final memory
of cold and snow –
will this not help
you appreciate
the warming of
the ground and air
as spring lies waiting
under snow that
cannot help but
begin to melt –
it is no match
for the longer
and warmer
days of spring.
Is this not winter
melting into spring?
And do not
the plants,
the flowers,
new growth,
rejoice in nature’s
perfect way
to bring needed moisture
to a ready ground –
will not the earth
absorb and take in
the melting snow
as the balance tips
from winter to spring?
And even when weather
is not extreme –
do not the seasons,
when cycles change –
like winter tipping
into spring,
remind you to see,
to notice,
and appreciate
changes in you
when they occur?
Sometimes change is
slow and gradual
and hard to perceive –
at times does it not move
at breakneck speed –
but are you not
in perfect balance –
in the perfect place,
at the perfect time
for new growth
to unfold?
There may be times
that are harsh like winter,
but does not new growth
lie waiting under
what will melt and be absorbed
by the patient earth –
there is no stopping
spring from coming –
as there is no stopping You.
Can you rejoice
in the change,
the growth,
the unfolding,
the evolving
of You?
Can hope spring eternal
in You –
as winter’s cold
begins to fade?
Find the balance.
Embrace change.
Be patient.
Be grateful.
Grow,
change,
and bloom
with Love
melting into
You.
